Transmission and System Operator

Pursuant to  Kosovo Law on Electricity , the Transmission and System Operator of Kosovo (TSO) is responsible for operating, ensuring the maintenance of and, if necessary, developing the transmission network in a given area and, where applicable, its interconnection with other networks, as well as for ensuring the long-term ability of the system to meet reasonable demands for the electricity transmission.

The Kosovo Energy Regulatory Office granted to KOSTT j.s.c the Transmission System Operator License which entered into force on 4th of October 2006.

The Transmission System Operator manages and operates the electricity transmission system of Kosovo and is responsible for the bulk transmission of electric power in the main high voltage electric networks.

The Kosovo Transmission and System Operator

  • Complies with the provisions of the Grid Code, the Metering Code and the Distribution Code.
  • Ensures non-discriminatory access among users and provides the information needed for an efficient access to the system.
  • Sets tariffs and charges for connection to and use of its system, which encourage competition in the power sector and facilitate new entrants into the market.
